Angelite is the crystal world’s name for a serene lilac-blue anhydrite found in Peru — a mineral that is literally gypsum without its water, born when ancient seawater evaporated and the leftover minerals compacted into smooth, cloud-colored stone. It only entered the world’s collections in 1987, and its soft color made the name inevitable.
